She woke up from a horrible nightmare…not knowing what was what. Her whole body felt inflamed. She was too fatigued to move a muscle. Nevertheless she got out of bed and moved to the mirror. When she turned on the light she knew what was happening. There was a rash that covered her nose and both sides of her cheeks. Then she pushed on her nose. A stinging pain resulted. Her mouth also felt sore. She knew what was happening…she was having a Lupus flare.
Systemic Lupus Erthymatosis ran in her family. Her mother had it, Her aunt had it…it was the family curse. She tried not to let it get her down. It was crap that messed up her life at times, but she had to fight it.
Because of the disease she had horrible mood swings. At first, her doctors thought she had Bipolar Disorder. To that day they still thought she was crazy. When were they going to learn…she wasn’t crazy, she was just a little lupie?
She sat down in her chair and opened her journal. She was going to have to record all the information so far about her flare. That’s what the doctor ordered her to do. If she didn’t, they would never be able to move forward.
She wanted to know when all of this would all end and when she would get her own life back…
She was tired of being sick. She just wanted to be at peace and be free.
